Save the date!  The IBM Informix Roadshow is coming to DC. Join the WAIUG at it for free, Apr 5-6 2017.

Carlton Doe, with IBM, is traveling through North America presenting his Informix Roadshow.  It just so happens he will be traveling to Washington D.C. about the same time we were planning our meeting. Join Carlton as he presents a deep dive into the features of Informix 12.10.xC6, xC7 and the newly released xC8.

There is also a second session on April 6th as part of the Roadshow event,  This session will focus in IoT infrastructure with an opportunity for some hands-on work.

Using SQL to Generate SQL for Administrating an Informix Database Server
Join Lester Knutsen as he shares his tips and tricks for using SQL to generate SQL scripts and KSH scripts to perform certain repetitive DBA functions.  He will show examples of SQL scripts, generating scripts to grant or revoke privileges, alter table attributes table, replicate dbspace, chunk and server configuration setting.

Carlton Doe – Informix Sharding and NoSQL.
The session will provide a brief introduction to Informix’s sharding technology and how it can be used on native NoSQL collections as well as SQL tables. The impact sharding has on queries is explored and solutions presented. Although sharding is typically not needed within Informix for scalability and performance, it is included as part of the compatibility matrix with NoSQL engines, enabling applications to seamlessly transition from lower- functionality engines to Informix.

Carton Doe – Enterprise Replication
The session will be brand new material covering ER and Grid.
